What's my business worth??? Wow! Is that an important question. And it's imperative that you get the right answer. The RIGHT answer may depend on why you are asking the question. Here's why that matters to you: I'm selling, what's my business worth: You want every dime for your hard work. You also know that you don't set the price, we don't set the price, the buyer doesn't set the price, the marketplace sets the price! Our approach is to make sure your price is the top price the marketplace is supporting, that this price is justifiable, documented, defendable, and includes every dime of value that a buyer will pay for. Your financial statements are just the beginning. Make sure you include ALL the 'addbacks'. Are there family members that are working for higher than market rates for their job functions and production? Does the company pay your life insurance? Are all your LIFO adjustments accounted for in the price? Is the total value of your finance or leasing company included in the value? Is the rent you charge yourself above or below market rent? Does your cash flow indicate higher value than a simple multiple of earnings? Don't simply use multiple of earnings anymore, or rules of thumb. It could cost you BIG MONEY. The marketplace of buyers today is too sophisticated for those simple valuations. Yes, we will do the income approach, the market approach, the asset approach, and these will point to a value. But when we sit down with you, you'll have ALL the modern methods, and you will pick the price we bring to the market. For legal purposes, what's my business worth: If your need for valuation involves divorce, estate planning, estate and gift taxes, partnership disputes, inheritance, eminent domain proceeding, or other litigation purposes, adequacy of life insurance, your needs may be for opinions that can stand up in court, that are defendable in court, that an attorney for the 'other side' can't fight. Correct appraisal methods require first determining the scope of appraisal that you need, and the purpose. We have the ability to deliver results tailor made to your needs.
